Utopia
Ruiqi is obsessed with the aesthetic philosophy of classical Chinese garden style. Chinese traditional space esthetics pursues studying the nature of things, explores the potential of the nature, drives humanity in design, and emphasizes the communication between human being and nature.
In this project, the artist uses elements and methods of Chinese garden design to divide, integrate, and enclose, in order to set the layout of an office in the CBD building.
The background music uses the voice uttered by myself as the raw materials that is processed by music software. Mimicking sounds in the nature, such as the sound of dropping water in the limestone cave, the echo in the valley, sound of the wind in the forest, and my whisper “everything will float”. Besides, the arrangement of the rhythm is the arrangement of time and space for the sounds. The artist attempts to create an immersive space - a flowing space between the artificial and natural, between the limited and unlimited, between the tangible and intangible, material and spiritual, demonstrating the fragility and inauthenticity of the places in the artist's vision and the Zen’s meaning in the artist's heart.
